It will take shape in Squillace the national event “Buongiorno Ceramica!”, aimed at enhancing the Italian city with artistic ceramic production with certified brand. The festival, now in its fourth year, wants to find out the best excellences of art and craftsmanship of Made in Italy and let the experience of the workshop work, enjoy all the suggestion of cooking in the ovens and furnaces and let the charm and the magic of witnessing the show of clay take shape on the lathe .
Sunday the 20th you can attend to demonstrations and laboratories of ceramists in Piazza Duomo and visits to the city. At 6 pm, at the Casa delle Culture, the conference “From the land to art: history and development of the ceramic in Turin” will take place and at the same time it will be possible to visit the contemporary ceramic exhibition and the photographic exhibition on art.
There are 40 cities that on May 19 and 20 throughout Italy will host “Buongiorno Ceramica!”, a long celebration of creativity and art (promoted by AiCC, the Italian City of Ceramics Association under the patronage of the Senate of the Republic and the Chamber of Deputies ) that will wrap with colors, enamels, shapes, sculptures, historical centers, museums, ateliers, laboratories, gardens. Unique protagonist in Calabria Squillace! On Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 May 2018, the national event “Buongiorno ceramica” will take shape at Squillace, aimed at enhancing Italian cities with production of artistic ceramics with a certified mark. The festival, now in its fourth year, wants to find out the best excellences of art and craftsmanship of Made in Italy and let the experience of the workshop work, enjoy all the suggestion of cooking in the ovens and furnaces and let the charm and the magic of witnessing the show of clay take shape on the lathe . Saturday 19, in Piazza Duomo, will be present the pottery markets, from 9:30 to 12:30 and from 16 to 19. At the same time there will be free ceramic workshops for children and school groups. From 16 to 19 the workshops will be animated by Disney mascots. Starting at 4:30 pm, the “Tilly Band” will animate the streets of the village, with musical performances. Throughout the afternoon until 8 pm, the fair of crafts, food and wine and antiques will take place in Piazza Duomo.
The “Domus Pacis” will take care of the guided tours through the streets of the town, to discover the ancient shops and the beautiful historical sites of Squilla which, for the occasion, will be open to the public for both days. It will be possible to visit the ancient Conca artisan shop, the Norman castle, the Gothic church of S. Maria della Pietà and the house of Cassiodoro. In each of the sites artistic installations and exhibitions will take place. In the bottega of the Conca potters, the Squillace Art School will perform demonstrations concerning the processing of ceramics and an exhibition of works realized by the students. In the potters’ workshops, instead, free tastings of typical local products will take place. Sunday 20 will continue their demonstrations and workshops of potters in Piazza Duomo and visits to the city. At 6 pm, at the Casa delle Culture, the conference “From the earth to art: history and development of the ceramic in Squilla” will take place and at the same time it will be possible to visit the contemporary ceramic exhibition and the photographic exhibition on art
Squillacese ceramics.
The planned initiatives, continuously updated, can be consulted on the “Buongiorno Ceramica!” site and are held simultaneously during the two days in the 40 cities of ancient ceramics tradition throughout the national territory, while relations are ongoing with many other European countries and already confirmed participation in Austria, Croatia and Portugal.
